Making art in the morning vs evening

Should I make art in the morning vs evening?

As I go through this daily art challenge, I begin to notice a lot of things about the way my art is produced, which ultimately affects what I end up creating.

One of the biggest things is when art is incorporated in my routine. I go through weeks where I either create art every morning as the first thing in my day, or I create art every evening as the last thing in my day. So what time is better, creating art in the morning vs evening?

My Observations

Everyone is different. For me, I notice that when I paint in the morning, the color selection is completely different. This is completely a technical thing due to the availability of natural light. This is why I personally like painting in the morning, although that doesn’t always work out due to my schedule.

I also notice that my paintings in the evening are a bit more dark and emotional than the morning. In the morning, I am a bit more pure energetically because the day hasn’t yet started and I’ve finished meditating. This impacts directly the kind of work I produce.

In the evening, I might have been pondering over the day or working out some kind of issue in my mind. So my evening artwork tends to be a bit more dark emotionally.

Both are very lovely to be able to produce because they both serve as a reflection of who I am and work as a way of releasing what I hold onto mentally in a form of art therapy.

What about you?

If you are on a similar journey, I encourage you to observe the effect of day and night on your art making routine. Do you notice a difference when you make art in the morning vs evening? After lining them up, what differences did you notice? I’m curious about you, so please share your thoughts in the comment box below.
